[JSPS] 13th HOPE Meeting—Request for Nominations(MOST_Israel)

I am writing this time to ask for your cooperation in nominating candidates to participate in our 13th HOPE Meeting.

The meeting is scheduled to be held in Yokohama, Japan during the period from 17-21 March 2021. Please find more details in the attached file and on our website.

We wish to request your cooperation in nominating 6 excellent PhD students and/or young researchers (who received their PhDs within the past 5 years as of 1 April 2020). We would appreciate it if you could send us your nominations along with their applications* by 30 September 2020**.
* Please be sure to use the attached Application Form for overseas participants, which is not posted on JSPS’s website.
** Please let us know if it should be difficult for you to nominate your candidates by the due date.

As the 12th HOPE Meeting had to be canceled due to concern about the Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic, people selected for the 12th Meeting are eligible to participate in the 13th Meeting even if they no longer satisfy the eligibility requirements stipulated in the attached document "Outline of the 13th HOPE Meeting.” As it is very important for us to maintain social distancing in the post-COVID-19 environment, we will not be able to increase the number of participants. Therefore, we would like to ask each overseas institution to nominate the same number of candidates as in previous years.

While JSPS will cover the cost of holding the meeting, lodging accommodations, transportation between Narita/Tokyo International Airport and the hotel/meeting venue, and overseas travel insurance for the international participants during the meeting, we ask your institution to please cover cost of your nominees’ airfare to and from Narita/Tokyo International Airport.

Lastly, please kindly understand that the meeting’s program may be subject to change or the meeting itself may be cancelled due to concern about the state of the COVID-19 pandemic in Japan and/or in the participants’ countries/areas. We are considering every possible way to put the participants’ safety first.
